Strong’s Hebrew 6734. צִיצִת
Also spelled tzitzit. Ritual tassels on the corners of garments. Related to Tzeetz, a word for “flower.” (Numbers 15:38-39.) Also referred to as Gedeel (1434) (Deuturonomy 22:12) which can mean a braided lock. Strong’s 1434. Eventually tassels were tied onto a dedicated religious garment – the taleet (prayer shawl), although Orthodox Jews still wear an undergarment with tassels attached.
